Hello again, my old friend.

Well here we are in 2008.

The new year seems to bring the idea of new beginings. It is kinda like you get a "do over" every 12 months, another take, a reboot, chapter 2 or chapter 41 (depending on your age).

We set goals like save money, lose weight, exercise, volunteer more, read the bible, go green, and so on. I have a long list of self improvements. I have alson been known to boycott the new year resolutions ... my only resolution is to not have any. I believe that is what I did last year. Maybe it was my way of excepting myself and not being pressured into society's idea of what life is suppose to look like. Don't just get tried of trying to be better. What ever happened to being content. I am pretty sure being content is a good thing.

This year I have several goals in mind. They all add up to being content .. having peace and sense of security. Not in giving up way but in God's grace is sufficent. "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:7-9)

AHHHH, doesn't that sound so comforting. Thank you God.

Let's go Dutch

The town of Pella was founded in l847 under the leadership of Dominie (Reverend) Hendrik Pieter Scholte who was actively involved in a Separatist movement in the Netherlands.
Pella means City of refuge. In the Bible, Pella was a gentile settlement to which Christians of Jerusalem fled at the beginning of the Jewish rebellion against Rome in A.D. 66. It was situated in what is now Jordan, just east of the Jordan River, about 50 miles northeast of Jerusalem.

"Mom-ories"

I miss my mom. Even the idea of her being a memory
is offensive to me. She is still such a part of me. I
think of her so often. I see things all the time that
make think of her. Things she would like and
things I wish I could share with her. I want to talk
about her, remember her, celebrate her life.

So from time to time you may find a photo, a
favorite "mom-ory" or story mixed in with photos
from the road.

This a photo from a trip to Myrtle Beach;
I took it with my cell phone in one of those
beach stores you find on each corner.
We got mom to buy a bathing suit.
And then she actually got in the ocean and
played in the waves with my sister and I.
It is one of my most favorite memories.
We giggled and laughed wave after wave.

My First Visitor, My Sister!

Welcome to Chi Town!

This is a very large, bean shaped

sculpture in Millennium Park

downtown. This was a lot

of fun; we took lots of photos.

Navy Pier has tons of things to do.

My favorite was the

Stain Glass Museum.

Below: We took a boat tour
through the city. It was
really cool and the city
is beautiful.
